Mocktail Recipe

Mocktail drinks have gained a lot of popularity lately, and why not? There are numerous non alcoholic liquids available to replace spirits and make it even easier to go from cocktail to mocktail. The flavors vary from fruity to sweet and from bitter to sour, even hot mocktail drinks can be found. For me it actually does not matter to necessarily enjoy my drink with alcohol, taste is much more important. If you want to give it a go, get out your shaker and mix my Orient Apple mocktail.

Cocktail Heritage

The base for my mocktail recipe comes from a classic Sour. By that, I do not mean to use lemon juice and sweeten it with sugar, no I mean the one with fresh egg white to smoothen out the acid. My oldest son (11 years) likes to drink a mocktail from time to time, to leave a grown up impression and he somehow loves rose water in drinks. Do not ask me why, but anyways since rose water is used a lot in Oriental cooking, this was my starting point of creating.

Pomegranate was added quite fast but did not make the drink as a whole and I needed to add a little finesse. I grabbed a bottle of non alcoholic liquid, a bit of lemon and came closer to the point, when one could call it a drink. Me, being a fan of a good Sour, immediately thought of tweaking it into that direction and after a little testing the result is quite pleasing, I got to admit. Quickly taking a few photos, my son and I said cheers and sipped our mocktail creation with great pleasure.

I hope you will too.
