ferm LIVING is rooted in Denmark, where Trine Andersen founded the business. The company presents everything from interior design, to in this case tableware. I recognized ferm LIVING the first time a few months ago. I was reaching out for different partners to support me with my book project. Because I always liked the way Scandinavian people were doing their designs, it did not take to long for me to stumble across this company. Another nice feature is, that ferm Living is trying to work with good and honest material. For example organic cotton, recycled paper, leather, wood, porcelain and metals.
The name ”ferm” was actually inspired by my grandmother“ Trine Andersen says. „When she said that someone was “ferm på fingrene” – i.e. skilled with their hands, literally “good with their fingers” – it was high praise indeed. I like to think that she would approve of the ferm LIVING range; it is modern, but also has a reassuring homelike quality – and we try to make sure that every piece is made well. I still stick to the same design philosophy that began it all – doing what feels right. Then it has a much better chance of feeling right for someone else too.”
The New Neu Line
The Neu line you see here is just typical for the nordic style. Neu is simple, got a distinctive graphic and is plain in color. The combination with accessories like brass make these products really special. They are so easy to plate and not too delicate, when it comes to everyday usability or cleaning.
Underneath you find my interpretation of Heaven & Earth, a rather rustic and traditional German dish, which is if you ask me, a beautiful presentation, because of the plate acting rather as a stage for the food. I hope to expand my Neu line by the time to be able to create more beautiful things on this lovely tableware. If you are interested, have a look here.
